A Day of Sweetness and Spectacle
From the moment you walked into The Timber Yard, it was clear that this was no ordinary food festival. The landmark warehouse venue was transformed into a cake lover’s dream—beautifully decorated cakes on display, cake-decorating demonstrations happening in real-time, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that invited visitors to indulge in the artistry of baking. The venue itself, with its rustic charm, provided the perfect backdrop for this event.

The festival featured some of the biggest names in the cake world, with stands from My Dream Cake, Cakers Warehouse, Cake Decorating Central, and Lombards. For both hobby bakers and serious seasoned pros, this was the place to be. These large suppliers showcased their best tools, ingredients, and equipment, offering everything from the latest cake-decorating gadgets to premium baking essentials. Attendees had the chance to chat with experts, watch live demonstrations, and purchase some of the high-quality tools and new products on the market.

Whether you were interested in improving your cake-decorating skills or simply wanted to marvel at the creative possibilities, the festival catered to all levels of interest and experience. Many visitors enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and watched intricate sugar flowers being crafted, fondant toppers being designed or taking pictures of beautifully layered cakes for future inspiration.
Family Fun in Every Corner

While everything cake was undeniably the main attraction, the Festival of Cake didn’t stop there. It was clear from the event’s layout that the organisers wanted to ensure the whole family could enjoy the day. A dedicated kids’ zone which featured a decorate-your-own-cupcake station was a particular hit with the children as was the free face painting.
Food Trucks, Flavours and Live Music.

For those in search of more substantial food the food truck lineup did not disappoint. A selection of Melbourne’s best food trucks provided a range of options to suit every craving. From gourmet burgers to wood-fired pizzas and artisanal ice creams, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
While visitors indulged in treats and admired the cakes on display, the cool sounds of Angus Legg’s acoustic guitar provided the perfect musical backdrop. His laid-back live performance gave the event a relaxed vibe that made the entire experience feel like a perfect day out.
Looking Ahead: Sydney 2025

For cake lovers who missed out on this Melbourne edition, there’s good news: the Festival of Cake is heading to Sydney in 2025. While details are still being finalised, the festival is set to take its sweet success NSW, where it will undoubtedly bring the same blend of creativity, entertainment, and family-friendly fun. If this first event is anything to go by, Sydney is in for a real treat.
The Festival of Cake has shown that it’s more than just an event for cake aficionados—it’s a day out for anyone who appreciates creativity, good food, and a laid-back, festive vibe. With an incredibly promising debut at The Timber Yard, this festival is well on its way to becoming a national sensation.
